MADELINE Cowe is hoping to break Australia’s 44-year Miss World drought and take home the title next month.
“I could be the next Miss World, you never know. We won in the 1960s and the 1970s, so it’s been over forty years,”, the law student, who will head to Maryland to compete on the global stage next month, told Confidential.
“I think we’ve got a good chance this year, and I definitely think it’s our time.”
While Asian powerhouses Indonesia and Thailand are solid contenders for the crown, Cowes said she’s trying not to compare herself.
“The advice I was given was don’t look into it too much, and don’t compare yourself to others. There’s always going to be the standout countries that really support their girls.
“In Indonesia and Thailand they love it,” she said. “They get really excited about pageantry.”
