Let’s rally for Gray

Miss World Philippines 2016 Catriona Gray is off to New York, USA today for the start of the Miss World pageant calendar.

To welcome her, a media meet and greet has been arranged by Consul General Tess dela Vega at the Philippine Center this November 25.

In a media send-off at the C3 Events Place in Greenhills, the statuesque and intelligent Gray, whom everyone fondly calls Cat, shared her hopes and dreams for a strong and victorious showing in the prestigious pageant. It will be remembered that Miss World is dubbed as the “mother of all pageants” by virtue of being the first beauty pageant ever established. Created in 1951, it is now on its 66th year.

In keeping with the “Filipino First Policy” of Miss World Philippines, Cat will be wearing a gown by renowned designer Francis Libiran.

Cat will proudly walk on stage to represent the Philippines, says Cory Quirino, Miss World Philippines national director, “and with her, she brings all the prayers of the Filipino people.”

Miss World – the biggest pageant in the world – finally arrives in the US with its 120 candidates. It will be staged at the Gaylord Convention Center on December 18, 7 p.m.

Filipino around the world can support Cat by going to the official Miss World Facebook page. The Pinoy community in the US may also show their love by cheering for her during the Miss World pageant.

According to Quirino, in the last six years of Miss World Philippines, the country has produced our very first Miss World winner, Megan Young, in 2013, as well as first runner-up Gwendoline Ruais in 2011, Top 8 Queenrich Reman in 2012, Top 25 Valerie Weighmann in 2014 and Top 10 Hillarie Parungao last year, 2015.
