Miss Nepal World 2016 informs her project for the Beauty with a Purpose—Classroom and Beyond—will be one of the highlights of her participation
Nov 25, 2016- Miss Nepal World Asmi Shrestha is set to embark for the United States on Friday to partake in the Miss World beauty pageant. This year’s edition, the 66th iteration of the pageant, is being held at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Maryland, US, on December 18.
Speaking to the Post, Shrestha informed that her project for the Beauty with a Purpose subtitle at the event—Classroom and Beyond—will be one of the highlights of her participation.
As part of the Classroom and Beyond project, Shrestha led a campaign to rebuild a school, Shree Bandevi Primary, in Deurali-5, Gorkha, that was severely damaged during last year’s quakes.
“The project is not only about rebuilding a building. We’re more focused on how we can take care of the quake-affected children and their education,” said Shrestha, “For which, we have not only focused on the physical infrastructure but also other resources by allocating a separate room for a library, a research centre, and a children-friendly playground.”
Although the project focused only one school, Shrestha says that she aims to take the project upon her return from the pageant.
“We are hopeful that the initiative to showcase how we can improve our education system will be a symbolic representation of how we can hope for a better future for the quake-affected children and also hope to invite more projects in the future,” Shrestha added.
Shrestha will also compete at the Talents of the World round where she will showcase a traditional dance to the tunes of the folk song, Deurali ma Barpipal Chautari.
