EACH year, all national gifts for the Miss World pageant are auctioned to help raise charitable funds for Beauty with a Purpose.
As Fiji's gift this year, Miss World Fiji Pooja Priyanka will present a signed rugby jersey of the winning Olympics gold medal 7s team.
For her part in the Beauty with a Purpose campaign, Ms Priyanka had chosen to work with Qelekuro Village in Tailevu as part of her project for Miss World.
Qelekuro Village was one of the worst-hit during Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston in February and Ms Priyanka helped rebuild the sea wall that was damaged during the cyclone.
Ms Priyanka will present a five-minute video at the Miss World finals in Washington DC, showcasing the work she did with the village including the destruction caused by the cyclone.
In a press conference yesterday, Ms Priyanka, who left for the US to compete at the Miss World pageant, thanked everyone who had supported her along the way.
"I hope I can show our great culture and our great passion for people, humility, humbleness and courage. I will share our story on TC Winston and make sure that everyone gets equal coverage," she said.
Meanwhile, Fiji Broadcasting Corporation's CEO Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said FBC was proud to be associated with the Miss World event and it would be shown live again this year.
"Every year we are proud to organise, select and prepare the best Fijian ambassador to this amazing platform that we call the Miss World event," he said.
