I’m ready for Miss Universe pageant – Miss SA
Reigning Miss South Africa Ntandoyenkosi Kunene has “mastered her walk and big voice” for the 65th Miss Universe pageant, a month after coming 21st in the talent round of the Miss World pageant in the US in December.
The Mpumalanga beauty, 24, departed for Manila in the Philippines yesterday, where she will compete against 80 other national pageant queens. She said she had no fears. “Miss South Africa and Miss World stages were great ways of preparing for this pageant – the one I’ve wanted most since winning Miss South Africa, as it’s bigger and bolder.
“I’ve prepared my walk – key for this pageant – and have practised saying ‘South Africa’ because we have to announce ourselves. I wouldn’t want not to be heard on stage,” she said.
She arrived at O R Tambo International Airport yesterday with her parents, Baby and Christopher Kunene, and her sister, Nelisiwe,
Kunene will take part in various judged challenges before the finale at the Mall of Asia Arena on January 30.
The contest will be hosted by US comedian Steve Harvey alongside plus-size model Ashley Graham.
