GREENWICH — Victory tasted sweet this week for Olga Litvinenko, who won the title of Miss Connecticut USA.
Litvinenko, who was representing Greenwich in the Miss Connecticut USA beauty pageant in Stamford this past weekend, treated herself to the chicken parmigiana pizza at Arcuri’s Pizza on the Post Road in Cos Cob.
“It was delicious,” she said. “Exactly what I was looking forward to.”
Almost as good as winning the title of Miss Connecticut.
Representing Greenwich against dozens of other contestants from around the state, Litvinenko said she was a bit anxious, but found the event exhilarating overall.
“A little nervous onstage, but I really was confident and proud to be there,” she said.
“There’s always a level of excitement. I went into it with a fun attitude, and I made of ton of new friends, and saw old friends from last year. I think it shone through in my performance; I was happy throughout,” Litvinenko said.
“No wardrobe malfunctions, and the judges were incredibly nice. All the questions they asked were relevant questions,” she said. She was asked what “confidently beautiful” meant to her and what gave her inspiration.
When her name was announced, she said, “Beyond being extraordinarily happy, I was relieved and so excited to start the next journey, competing for Miss USA,” she said.
The Miss USA Pageant is tentatively slated for Las Vegas in June.
In the coming months, Litvinenko will be representing charities at promotional events, especially a cancer-research fund, as well as other civic groups. She’ll be working with the United Service Organizations that does entertainment for the armed forces. Litvinenko also runs a business doing marketing and event-planning. Working on an initiative against cyberbullying could be in the works, she said.
She will also be spending time at the gym, and “staying in shape physically and mentally.”
The 26-year-old Greenwichite earned the title of Miss Connecticut Teen USA in 2007, when she was a junior at Greenwich High School.
