WATCH: Maxine Medina sheds stage fright ahead of Miss Universe pageant
Maxine Medina, the country's bet to take home an unprecedented back-to-back wins in the upcoming Miss Universe pageant, has long faced criticism for appearing shaky in some of her interviews.
So, perhaps to calm some fears from Filipinos thinking that she does not have what it takes to do so, she made an appearance on the late night talk show "Tonight with Boy Abunda" on Friday, a week before the start of the global beauty contest.
With newfound confidence thanks to months of training, Medina looked more composed in displaying her wit. Granted, there weren't any questions one would consider as tough, but she at least seemed to have shed some of her stage fright.
Medina also has this aura that she is raring to go and hit the world stage, a sign that could only mean good things for the host country, when she boldly claimed that she will win this year's pageant after being asked to describe herself.
The official start of the two-week long pageant will begin on the 14th, but candidates from all over the world will start arriving on the 12th, according to Tourism chief Wanda Teo. (LIST: Miss Universe itinerary in Philippines revealed)
Medina will look to succeed reigning crown-holder Pia Wurtzbach. Should she do so, she would become the first Filipina to win back-to-back titles for the country.
