The Binibining Pilipinas, or the Miss Universe Philippines as it’s known, was held yesterday (April 30). The Philippines has crowned the beautiful and smart, Rachel Peters as Miss Universe-Philippines 2017.
The Philippines are sending in a strong contender for the crown in next year’s Miss Universe pageant. Rachel Peters has been crowned the most beautiful woman in the Philippines at the Binibining Pilipinas, the country’s Miss Universe pageant. And though she made everyone fall for her beauty, it’s clear she’s got brains, too. She Has a Mixed Heritage
Rachel Louise Peters was born and raised in the Camarines Sur, a province in the Philippines, and is of British-Filipino heritage. Information on her family is still lacking as she’s not yet a known celebrity. Her exact birth date is unclear, but we do know that she was born in 1992 and is 25 years old. She shared a picture on Instagram holding her brand new Philippines passport.
She took up International Studies at the British School in Thailand and acquired her Bachelors in Business, Tourism, and Events degree from La Trobe University in Australia.
She’s in Love
Sadly for those who are hoping this 5’10” stunner is single, Peters is off the market. Her boyfriend is no ordinary guy either. Miguel Luis Villafuerte, or Migz as he refers to himself, is a Filipino model and politician. At only 28 years old, he’s the Governor of Camarines Sur.
He comes from a long line of politicians, his father being a Congressman and a former Governor himself. His grandfather was a member of the Monetary Board, a government division.
Migz defeated his own grandfather to become the Governor of Camarines Sur and took office in 2013. He was 24 years old then, becoming the youngest Governor in the history of the Philippines. He was re-elected in 2016.
Peters’ and Villafuerte’s Instagrams show that these two spend a lot of time together. From hanging out at the beach to handing out relief goods to Hurricane Nina victims. Now that his girlfriend is crowned the most beautiful woman in the country, he can’t stop gushing about her.
She’s One with the Ocean
If we break down Peters’ Instagram activity into categories, there’s dogs, Migz, and the ocean. The many posts on the leggy beauty’s Instagram will show her at home with the cerulean sea. She’s seen swimming, surfing, even sitting on a hammock in the middle of the sea, and her smile couldn’t be any brighter! She’s either hanging at the beach or hanging on trees at the beach. But she’s inseparable from the ocean.
Her Instagram also reveals her love for animals. She has a couple of dogs with whom she posts pictures that should make Migz jealous. She’s also adept at riding a horse. Can she get any cooler?

Beauty with a Purpose
At the Miss Universe Philippines pageant, it was Rachel Peters’ Q&A that pretty much won her the crown. EU Ambassador to the Philippines Franz Jessen asked her, “This week, the Philippines hosted the ASEAN (Assocation of Southeast Asian Nations) Summit. If you were invited to speak, what would have been your message to the leaders?”
Peters’ answered, “I believe that one of the biggest problems that our country faces today is divisiveness – in politics, in religion, and also in culture. And I believe that it’s something that is the same across the world. And so that is something I would want to address. I believe that when people can learn to tolerate each other’s differences and respect each other’s opinions, then we will be a stronger nation and world.” That fits right in with the Miss Universe franchise’s, “Beauty with a Purpose” efforts
