Yamaha and Miss Nepal take on road safety

KATHMANDU: MAW enterprises, official distributors of Yamaha bikes in Nepal has organised a Road Safety Awareness Program for contestants in the Miss Nepal 2017 beauty pageant. During an event held on May 20, Deputy Superintendent of Police Sabin Pradhan along with Niraj Dhaubadhel, a campaigner for Road Safety Society Nepal and Jeena Gurung, a Yamaha-certified instructor shared tips on road safety with the Miss Nepal contestants. They also provided a practical demonstration on safe driving.

The contestants then travelled to the four busiest places in Kathmandu — New Road, Baneshwor, Kalimati and Thapathali, to convey these road safety measures to drivers and pedestrians. They distributed masks to spread awareness about the dangers of breathing in polluted air.

Meanwhile, on ‘A day with Yamaha’, Dr Raveena Desraj Shrestha, COO of Mega Bank spoke about women empowerment to the Miss Nepal contestants. “Being selected for the final competition is a great achievement in itself,” Shrestha said, adding “But now that you’ll be famous across the nation, know that this fame is not for the self. Utilise it for positive change in society.” During the session, contestants shared their views on the contribution of scooters to
women empowerment.

The company also issued a press release announcing that the public can now vote for the ‘Face of Fascino’. ‘Face of Fascino’ will be awarded to one of the 19 Miss Nepal contestants chosen by a panel of judges comprising of Dr Raveena Desraj Shrestha, Neelam Chand and Oshima Banu, as well as through public voting on Yamaha’s official Facebook page and in Yamaha showrooms all across Nepal. Voting will last from May 19 to June 2. One lucky voter will get the chance to win a new Samsung Galaxy S8. Winners of Miss Nepal 2017 and ‘Face of Fascino 2017’ will each get a Yamaha Fascino.
