This Local Woman Could Be The Next Miss Universe

BRIGHT FUTURE: Stephanie Prior
27 YEAR-old Stephanie Prior from Brighton is in the running to represent Great Britain at the Miss Universe pageant.
The Marketing Manager will be one of around 40 women taking part in the 2017 Miss Universe Great Britain competition in South Wales in July.
In the run up, she will be tasked with a series of challenges and fundraising for Strongbones – a charity which helps children from all over the UK with diseases of the bone. The event will also support survivors of acid attacks in India by supporting the charity Stop Acid Attacks.
The final (from 13-15 July) will be a three-day event and includes an empowerment day lead by one of the UK’s foremost leadership coaches; a celebration dinner with friends and family; and a catwalk show before a panel of judges from the beauty and fashion industry.
Stephanie said: “I am really excited to have been chosen as a finalist for Miss Universe Great Britain this year and will be doing all that I can in the next few months to prepare. Miss Universe is one of the biggest pageants in the world and I think it’s going to be a huge adventure as well as a lot of fun.”
Stephanie won the title of Miss Sussex in 2014 and later that year, went on to compete for the Miss England crown. She currently works full time as a Marketing Manager in legal services, while juggling studying towards her second degree in Professional Marketing. Coming out of Hove Park School in Hove with just 2 GCSE’s above C grade, she has worked hard to gain recognition and a career.
Although Stephanie struggled at school, this outspoken teenager enjoyed using her passion and energy to speak for the community and standing up for people’s rights. At 14, she spoke at the Liberal Democrats conference to represent the interests of local young people. At 16 she volunteered with the YMCA in Gambia, where she witnessed an unimaginable amount of poverty that changed her perception and humbled her.
When she returned to the UK, she aced her studies and went on to obtain a degree in Anthropology.
“Since I put in my application for Miss Universe GB, I have worked around clock working full time, while studying, fundraising and keeping myself fit and healthy," said Stephanie. "It’s exhausted but I love to live life to the maximum and more importantly, I want the opportunity to be the first women of black ethnicity to win the Great Britain Crown and represent my country at Miss Universe."
