Maxine Medina does farewell walk in style
Maxine Medina has passed on her crown to Rachel Peters—and the former Miss Universe queen made sure to do it with style.
During the Binibining Pilipinas Coronation Night at the Araneta Center in Cubao on Sunday evening, Maxine gave her final walk as 2016 Miss Universe Philippines.
She sashayed across the stage in a Rhett Eala creation: a shimmery emerald dress—her trademark shade—with thin, flowy fringes that gave the appearance of a cape.
As she walked the Binibining Pilipinas stage for the final time as reigning queen, she reminisced about her journey as the binibini chosen to represent the country during the Philippines' hosting of the 65th Miss Universe pageant in January.
"My journey as a binibini was filled with challenges and opportunities that made me a better person. Every moment was fun, unforgettable, and challenging. Being chosen as the Miss Universe representative was beyond my dreams," she said in a pre-recorded audio.
"I enjoyed the experience despite the pressure that went with it. Going through this tough competition made me discover things about myself," she added.
She thanked her family, friends, and supporters for the guidance she received during the grueling competition, where she finished Top 6.
"And I am grateful to Mrs. Stella Marquez Araneta, to my family, my friends, and to all my supporters. Thank you for all your guidance and support. I will cherish this memory in my heart forever," she said. — BM, GMA News
