Smart, Bb. Pilipinas launch online voting for the first time

Help your favored candidate enter the Top 15 of the Binibining Pilipinas 2017 beauty pageant by voting online.
This is the first time in the pageant’s 54-year history that organizers are adopting an interactive process dubbed “People’s Choice Award.”
Forty candidates will be competing for six beauty titles during the pageant.
PLDT wireless unit Smart Communications, along with its digital innovations arm Voyager Innovations, powers the SMS and digital fan voting of the Binibining Pilipinas 2017 beauty pageant.
The online voting began Wednesday (April 26) and will close at 9 p.m. on April 30, the coronation night which will be held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.
To vote, fans only need to text BB<number of candidate> (ex. BB1 to BB40) to 2929022.
“As we saw during the country’s hosting of the 65th Miss Universe last January, pageant competitions have become more digital like never before. We’re glad that the Binibining Pilipinas 2017 will be putting the power of digital into the hands of millions of Filipino fans this time. We all therefore will be given a chance to vote for our bets, powered by the combined digital technologies of Smart and Voyager,” said Manuel V. Pangilinan, chairman of PLDT, Smart and Voyager.
“This year is extraordinary — from the beauties to the show — and is even more exciting because we are letting people vote for their candidate of choice through technology, a first in the pageant’s 54 years,” said Stella Marquez Araneta, chair of Binibining Piliinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) in a press briefing Wednesday.
NO LIMIT
Ramon Isberto, Smart Communications Head, Public Affairs and Corporate Communications, said there is no limit in voting for a particular candidate.
“It’s very nice that Binibining Pilipinas has now become more interactive. We’re looking forward to work with Binibining Pilipinas in a more interactive process,” said Isberto.
Subscribers of all mobile networks can send in their votes to the SMS gateway powered by Voyager.
Aside from voting via SMS, fans also have the chance to pick this year’s Most Photogenic Queen by participating in the online voting via the Binibining Pilipinas website www.bbpilipinas.com/vote.
Through freenet – the free Internet platform of Voyager-Smart, TNT and Sun subscribers will have free access to the voting website without data charges by simply downloading the freenet app on their Android or iOS phones.
