Miss Idaho gets ready to compete in the Miss USA competition

MOSCOW, ID — She was crowned Miss Idaho USA 2017 last fall and this moment changed Cassie Lewis’s life.
And as she is getting ready to compete in the Miss USA competition she’s cool, calm and collected for now.
“You know, maybe, when I'm checking in and seeing that it's all happening and this is real and I'm going to Miss USA,” said Cassie.
Cassie is still relatively new to the pageant scene having competed for about three years now. But she has been able to rely on former Miss Idaho and fellow Moscow resident Sydney Halper for guidance.
“I'm just so grateful that I have her to bounce ideas off of and help me with that,” said Cassie.
During the past half year, she has travelled with the USO doing various events across the country. Cassie has also shared her platform of mentoring young Idahoans from preschool to high school.
“And work with them on just embracing their individuality and standing up against peer pressure and reaching for their dreams,” said Cassie.
Idaho has never won at Miss USA before and Cassie said it would be something very special to bring back home to the Gem State for the first time.
The preliminary show will be aired on missuniverse.com on May 11th and then the live show will air on Sunday May 14th.
