German Marlene Schmidt was crowned Miss Universe in 1961
Online pageant enthusiasts immediately pointed out Polina’s resemblance to another famed stunner, German Marlene Schmidt, who triumphed at Miss Universe in 1961.
The two models share the same blonde hair and delicate chin with their eyebrows and smiles also startlingly similar.
Side by side they could easily be mistaken for photos of the same person.
User French_Annie said: “They do look alike. Even their teeth are the same shape.”

Polina Popova from the Sverdlovsk Oblast region was crowned Miss Russia 2017 this weekend
A total of 50 participants from all over the country took part in the 25th Miss Russia beauty contest, with all of the budding hopefuls aged between 18 and 23.
Marlene Schmidt is to date the only German contestant to win Miss Universe.
She married and had a daughter with actor Ty Hardin, later divorcing him. She worked in the movie industry for many years as an actor, writer and producer and now lies in Saarbrucken in the western German state of Saarland.
