Coconuts Bangkok reported that during the broadcast of the recently-concluded Miss World 2016 pageant, Thailand's Channel 3 did something that was said to have baffled a lot of viewers.
The coronation night of the pageant was held in the U.S. and Channel 3 broadcast the entire thing. However, pageant fans noticed something strange about the cleavage area of Megan Young. It was blurred by Channel 3.
Young — who is from the Philippines and was crowned Miss World 2013 — was one of the hosts of the pageant.
The report didn't say if other women's cleavage areas were also blurred. Perhaps, the blurring done on young was the most noticeable as she was one of the hosts.
Coconuts Bangkok noted that "many netizens criticized the overly sensitive decision" of Channel 3. It explained that censorship standards in Thailand are somewhat puzzling.
"Dragonball's cartoon nipples and some cleavage is blurred out. But, somehow, the rape scenes in soap operas are acceptable for entertainment purposes," pondered Coconuts Bangkok.
In any case, Puerto Rican Stephanie Del Valle was crowned Miss World 2016. The Philippines' bet, Catriona Gray, made it to the Top 5 and Thailand's Jinnita “Dai” Buddee made it to the Top 20.
