Mayor invites Miss U delegates to Calamba City

CALAMBA City Mayor Justin Marc “Timmy” Chipeco extended his invitation to the 65th Miss Universe Organizing Committee to include his city, the birthplace of National Hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal, as one of the “must visit” places of the expected 90 delegates worldwide who will arrive in Manila in January 2017.

“Our city is known for resorts and hot springs. We also have heritage houses including the birthplace of Dr. Jose Rizal – the Pride of the Malay race,” said Chipeco, expressing his support of the Miss Universe Pageant even as he presented the
candidates of the 3rd Mr. and Ms. Calamba pageant recently at the sprawling 88 Spa and Resort.

“As we eagerly await the Miss Universe delegates in Manila in January, it is high time that Calamba be also known as the hometown of Filipinas with beauty and wit who have the potential of bringing pride to the country like reigning Miss Universe
Pia Wurtzbach,” Chipeco continued, noting the success of one of their 2014 Miss Calamba winners, Alexandra Mae Rosales, who won as first runner-up in the Miss Southeast Asia Tourism Ambassador Pageant held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last year.

The pageant’s main vision is to hone young talents who will be in the forefront of Calamba’s tourism promotion.

The grand coronation night, to be directed by Gareth Blanco of Icon88 Productions, will be held at Colegio de San Juan de Letran (Calamba) tomorrow.
