Dumaguete bank employee wins Miss Asia 2016 crown

A 23-year-old auto loan assistant from one of the country’s biggest universal banks won the Miss Asia 2016 pageant Thursday at the CIAL Convention Centre, Kochi in India.
Trixia Maria Maraña, a business administration graduate who hails from Dumaguete City and works at BDO Unibank, bested 17 other Asian aspirants in the second edition of the pageant that focuses specifically on Asian and Eurasian beauties.
Miss Belarus Yauheniya Vasilyeva won 1st runner-up while Miss India Ankita Kharat was adjuded 2nd runner-up.
Prior to her big win, Maraña had competed in several local and national pageants. A former runner-up of Miss Tourism Philippines 2010 and Sinulog Queen de Kabankalan, she also joined Miss Dumaguete City 2009, Abuyog Queen of Leyte 2011 and Miss Negros Oriental 2015.
Last year, another Filipina, Alfre Marie Nathanile Dagle Uy won 1st runner-up in the pageant’s first edition that was won by Kanika Kapur of host country, India. The 25-year-old Uy works as a personnel manager in a trading company in Dubai, UAE.
