LOOK: Pia Wurtzbach’s love for dogs makes her break protocol

In just a month or so of her Miss Universe reign, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach has exhibited that she is indeed “confidently beautiful with a heart” — and that her heart is also for animals.
Wurtzbach broke the security protocol in order to greet and kiss a hotel canine named “Rex”. This scenario was captured by Sheila Vitug after the 26-year-old title holder was conferred the congressional medal of distinction at the House of Representatives on January 26, 2016.

The photos drew positive reactions from the netizens. The post has generated more than 12,000 reactions, most of which show the “like”, “love”, and “wow” emojis.
A certain Jennifer C. Moralde asked Wurtzbach to include in her causes the welfare of the animals. “We, the animal lovers and animal welfare advocates, are pleading to your good heart to please consider the Animal Welfare and Protection advocacy in your projects and causes. We truly believe that you are confidently beautiful with a “big heart” for all the animals. Thank you.”
One Mel Medrano said, “She has compassion with animals, it goes to show that she also have it with human… confidently beautiful with a heart.” The same sentiment was echoed by netizen Jericho Ryan Chua, saying: “That’s the best example of a true Miss Universe — not only for people but also for the animals!”
The beauty queen, herself, owns a black and white chihuahua which she calls “Prada”.
During her first live question and answer on Twitter, Wurtzbach called “Prada” her baby as she answered one question.
