A Miss World Australia finalist has died in hospital after a horror crash in Far North Queensland.
17-year old Elyse Miller-Kennedy was involved in a head on collision last Wednesday night, leaving her trapped in the car for two hours.
She was airlifted to Cairns hospital in a critical condition before being flown to a specialist unit in Townsville due to serious head injuries.
A fundraising page was set up by the community, in a bid to support the family but the teenager died from her injuries overnight.
Miller-Kennedy was completing her Higher School Certificate and had plans to move interstate to pursue a modelling career.
Police continue to investigate whether a man and woman from France, who were in the other vehicle, were on the wrong side of the road the time of the crash.
