Miss America hands out treats to kids at hospital (PHOTOS)
NEW BRUNSWICK — Everybody loves a frozen treat and having Miss America deliver it to you makes it that much better.
Betty Cantrell, Miss America 2016, delivered Dairy Queen Blizzards to patients at Children's Specialized Hospital.
"Actually, I love Oreo flavor, it's my favorite," said patient Samone Ingram of Newark after she received her frozen treat.
"Going into a hospital and just put a smile on their faces is the best part of my job," said Cantrell.
Cantrell is the National Goodwill Ambassador for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals of which Children's Specialized Hospital is a member.
July 28 is National Miracle Treat Day and for each Blizzard that Dairy Queen sells it will donate at least one dollar to the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
"These donations stay local and help kids in your area get better," added Cantrell.
In 2015 Dairy Queens in Central and Northern Jersey raised $46,586 for hospitals Children's Specialized Hospital.
