What qualities is Pia Wurtzbach looking for in her successor?
A back-to-back win in the Miss Universe pageant seems daunting, but reigning queen Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach doesn't think it's impossible.
During her press conference on Thursday (April 14) at Novotel in Cubao, Wurtzbach bared her feelings about passing on the crown and although there's a hint of sadness, she's excited to see another candidate's dream become a reality.
When asked what qualities she hopes her successor has, Wurtzbach painted a clear image.
"She has to be prepared—not just with how she's going to maintain her beauty. She has to have genuine interest in what's going on in the country and the world," she told the press, "As you've seen in the (previous) Miss Universe pageant, they ask questions now about your country. You have to be aware of what's going on in the news. You have to be genuine; you have to have your own stand and opinion."
Aside from being well-spoken and brave, Wurtzbach added, "It has to be something that she really wants."
The audience sees the glamorous production, the women looking pretty, and the shining crown, but Wurtzbach posed a question similar to the one she answered on December 20 at Las Vegas for the candidates, "What do you plan to do when they put the crown on your head?"
Pageants fans are eager to find out who will take on Wurtzbach's challenge and the long wait ends on Sunday (April 17), when a new Binibining Pilipinas Universe is crowned. — AT, GMA News
