While media reports continue to surface about Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump and his misogynistic treatment of women, a former Mississippi beauty pageant contestant's take on the GOP candidate has popped up in two stories about Trump's behavior at his beauty contests.
In a timeline detailing Trump's "creepiness" at his pageants published by Rolling Stone earlier this week, 2013 Miss USA contestant Paromita Mitra, who grew up in Hattiesburg, was quoted about feeling uncomfortable during the onstage introduction process. The quote was taken from a Yahoo story published in June.
Miss Washington USA 2013 contestant Cassandra Searles posted on Facebook "“Do y’all remember that one time we had to do our onstage introductions, but this one guy treated us like cattle and made us do it again because we didn’t look him in the eyes? Do you also remember when he then proceeded to have us lined up so he could get a closer look at his property?” She added, “Oh I forgot to mention that guy will be in the running to become the next President of the United States.”
Searles tagged other Miss USA contestants from that year on the post, including Mitra, 2013 Miss Mississippi USA.
Mitra responded: “I literally have nightmares about that process.”
When reached for comment Thursday, Mitra declined to talk about the experience.
Mitra spent grades 1-12 in Hattiesburg's Oak Grove school system and later studied aeronautical engineering at Mississippi State University.
