MORGANTOWN — A WVU student is set to compete in the national Miss USA pageant as Miss West Virginia USA.
Lauren Roush, 21, was crowned during competition last weekend in Morgantown. The WVU student directory lists Roush as an English/secondary education major from Mason, W.Va.
“As a resident of West Virginia, I am incredibly honored to represent the pride and glory of our beautiful state as Miss West Virginia USA 2017,” Roush said. “Through my participation in the pageants, I am overjoyed at the chance to showcase everything that being a West Virginian means to me, and I pledge to continue to make our great state proud.”
The Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre, located within WVU’s Creative Arts Center, served as the venue for all pageant activities. Contestants were judged in three equal categories — personal interview, evening gown and swimsuit for Miss or activewear for Teen. The competitions shined a spotlight on some of the best, brightest and most accomplished young women throughout the state.
Olivia Hutchison, of Huntington, was named Miss West Virginia Teen USA.
