A soldier in the Army reserves is a top ten finalist in Miss USA's contest to compete at this year's pageant as the 52nd contestant.
The competition is called #FindingMiss52, and 24-year-old San Antonio native Catherine Williams initially applied through social media.
Within a few days, Williams was notified that she was selected as a top 25 contestant, but says she never thought she'd make the top ten.
Williams hopes to be selected as Miss 52 so she can share the stories of female soldiers who have given their lives in the line of service.
"They've already paid the ultimate price and I just don't want their spirit to die because that's what our country is founded off of and I really don't think there's anything more American than that," says Williams.
Voting in Miss USA's #FindingMiss52 contest ends tomorrow at 6pm.
You can vote for Catherine Williams on findingmiss52.missusa.com and on Twitter by tweeting with both #FindingMiss52 and her contestant-specific hashtag, #CatherineW.
