Miss USA 2016 contestants enjoy Vegas bikini weather
The 10-day Miss USA 2016 Pageant began Wednesday with contestant arrivals, registration, garment fittings, posing for photo shoots and getting some Las Vegas sunshine. Among those captured on camera enjoying the Las Vegas weather were contestants Miss Washington USA 2016 Kelsey Schmidt, Miss Hawaii USA 2016 Chelsea Hardin, Miss Iowa USA 2016 Alissa Morrison and Miss Louisiana USA 2016 Maaliayh Papillon.
Each wants to be crowned Miss USA 2016 on June 5 and go on to represent the United States later this year in the Miss Universe competition. The pageant will be aired live on the Fox television network beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets to the preliminary competitions and the night a new miss is crowned are available through AXS.
In spite of critics suggesting that pageant contestants are airheads, the facts are almost always otherwise. Schmidt holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and is a pre-doctoral fellow at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
Hardin majored in both anthropology and geography, with a minor in ethnic studies, at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. Morrison earned a bachelor’s degree with a double major in business management and marketing. Papillion is majoring in psychology and minoring in biology, with the goal of earning a doctorate in psychology and opening her own practice.
