Miss North Carolina USA pulls out of Miss USA Pageant
Miss North Carolina USA 2016 Allie Dunn has resigned her title and will not be a contestant in the Miss USA 2016 Pageant, RPM Productions announced late Thursday. RPM produces the Miss North Carolina USA Pageant.
According to the statement, Dunn developed an undisclosed illness a few days before the pageant got under way. According to RPM, “her condition has continued to deteriorate.” Among those who helped her make the decision to withdraw were physicians and her parents. Pageant officials are asking that everyone respect Dunn’s privacy while she fully recovers.
Pageant officials describe themselves heartbroken over Dunn’s having to leave the pageant. RPM said Dunn has been “an exemplary titleholder since she was crowned in October and has represented the state of North Carolina with dignity and grace.”
Dunn, 21, is majoring in hospitality and tourism management. She is a strong supporter of the USO; and an outspoken Christian.
Devin Gant, who was first runner-up at the Miss North Carolina USA 2016 competition, will represent North Carolina at the Miss USA Pageant. According to Gant’s Twitter profile, she is a former NBA dancer.
