With years of experience in the pageant world, Laredoan Daniella Rodriguez hopes to make history when she participates in this year’s Miss USA Pageant in Las Vegas on June 5.
Fifty-two contestants from around the United States will be competing in this year’s competition.
Rodriguez is the only Mexican-American vying for the title this year.
“I feel very lucky to have been put in this position because this is my chance to represent myself and my culture,” Rodriguez said.
As a contestant, Rodriguez wants people to know that every woman who is competing in the Miss USA pageant is not just a “pageant girl.”
She wants the public to know that all of the contestants have dreams and that they are there to empower other women to chase their own dreams, no matter what obstacles they may be faced with.
“Self confidence is truly the key to being beautiful and feeling successful,” Rodriguez said.
“Every journey has to involve some kind of a struggle, but I believe that’s what keeps me motivated to push harder and to want to succeed.”
The women who participate with the organization are motivated by both personal and humanitarian goals.
Rodriguez says she plans to pursue a teaching degree from TAMIU.
“I believe I can help mold the youth by speaking with them and reaching out to them at a more personal level.
They need to know that someone is there for them and to look up to, something I truly believe that I can offer as a role model,” Rodriguez said.
To prepare, Rodriguez practices her communication skills and stays active so that she can remain physically fit.
She also interacts with others on a day-to-day basis.
Rodriguez considers her confidence in God as something that sets her apart from the other contestants.
She said she is a true believer in positive thinking and knowing that everything that happens has a purpose in life.
Rodriguez said she would like to thank her mother for introducing her to pageants.
She would also like to thank all of her friends and family for their support.
She hopes to make everyone proud by taking the crown at the Miss USA 2016 Pageant.
