Miss Marianas departs for Miss International pageant in Japan

(Stellar Marianas) — This weekend, Miss Marianas Peachy Quitugua departs on her first beauty queen competition abroad for the Miss International 2016 title to be held at the Tokyo Dome, Japan on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016.

Dating back to 1983, Stellar Marianas has been a participant of the Miss International title competition when Miss Marianas 1983 Peggy Benevente was sent to represent the CNMI. Like her predecessors, Miss Marianas 2016 has the opportunity to showcase the CNMI as an exotic tourist destination enriched with Pacific island culture.
Stellar Marianas national director and runway coach Ping Guerrero and Michelle Sablan of Pena House and Stellar member worked alongside our Miss Marianas day and night for each round of the competition — national costume, swimsuit, evening gown and top ten finals.
Stellar Marianas is ever-so-grateful for all its volunteer support and especially to the sponsors —Pena House, Marianas Visitors Authority, Saipan Chocolates — and others who make opportunities like this possible.
When asked about the Miss International 2016 competition, Peachy stated, “I’m honored and proud that I have the great opportunity to represent our beautiful islands in this prestigious pageant. As I go off to compete and learn more about other countries, I am always reminded that I have the Marianas behind me every step of the way. This is something very new and exciting for me, and I want to thank each and every one including the Stellar Marianas team and my family for being my greatest support system and cheerleaders!”
