Donald Trump attempted to have a previously pregnant Nancy O’Dell replaced as host of the 2007 Miss USA pageant years after she rejected his sexual advances, TMZ reported.
In 2007, O’Dell served as co-host of the formerly Trump-owned pageant, but it was only after the businessman failed at having her removed from her contracted post. According to TMZ, Trump didn’t want a pregnant woman hosting the show, but because of O’Dell’s contract with NBC, there was nothing the businessman could do.
But on Friday, the Washington Post released a conversation caught on hot microphone between former Access Hollywood host Billy Bush and Trump. The conversation took place as Trump and Bush were on board an Access Hollywood bus, arriving on the set of Days of Our Lives to tape a segment about a cameo Trump was filming for the soap opera at the time. On the tape, Trump can be heard describing a failed attempt to have sex with an unnamed woman.
Hours after the footage surfaced, Access Hollywood’s Natalie Morales addressed the comments from 11 years ago on its Friday evening program and revealed that Trump spoke about two women — one of which was O’Dell.
“I moved on her actually. You know she was down in Palm Beach, I moved on her and I failed. I’ll admit it,” Trump tells Bush about O’Dell in the video.
“Whoa,” Bush responds.
“I did try and f–k her, she was married,” Trump continues about O’Dell to Bush in the video.
“That’s huge news there!” Bush replies.
“Nancy, no this was, and I moved on her very heavily. In fact, I took her out furniture shopping. She wanted to get some furniture. I said, ‘I’ll show you where they have some nice furniture.’ I took her out, furniture, I moved on her like a b—-,” Trump says to Bush, who can be heard laughing. “But I couldn’t get there — and she was married. And all of a sudden I see her, she’s now got the big phony t—, she’s totally changed her look.”
Shortly after the Post report was published, Trump, 70, released a statement saying: “This was locker room banter, a private conversation that took place many years ago. Bill Clinton has said far worse to me on the golf course — not even close. I apologize if anyone was offended.”
On Friday afternoon, Today co-host Bush issued an apology for his comments: “Obviously I’m embarrassed and ashamed. It’s no excuse, but this happened eleven years ago – I was younger, less mature, and acted foolishly in playing along. I’m very sorry.”
