Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach: Crowning Miss Peru, Miss Philippines, Throwing First Pitch, and Dr. Mike

Whoever thought that being Miss Universe is a lot of work? Being a guest judge in a Miss Universe beauty pageant in Peru, throwing the first pitch in a New York Mets – Cincinnati Reds game, it’s a wonder she had time for a helicopter ride with Dr. Mike.

This week, Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach was a guest judge in the Peru competition as they picked the next Miss Peru contestant for Miss Universe. Although it was Valeria Piazza who won the title, it was Mirella Paz Baylon who caught Pia Wurtzbach’s admiration, as the 19 year old Mirella Paz Baylon is the first plus-sized woman to have entered the pageant.
Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach called her an inspiration, in an a press conference before the pageant,Yahoo! has quoted Wurtzbach as saying, “We always talk about that we’re not just beautiful in the outside but also in the inside, and that’s what exactly [Baylon] did.”
Miss Philippines - Universe
It was also this month that Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach returned to her home country, Philippines. Wurtzbach returned to crown her successor as Philippine’s representative in the next Miss Universe pageant. Maxine Medina was crowned Miss Philippines – Universe 2016.
First Pitch
Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach threw the first pitch in a game between the New York Mets and Cincinnati Reds. Mr. Met also made sure to spend some quality time with the Miss Universe before the game. Before throwing the first pitch, Wurtzbach got some tips from pitcher Noah Syndergaard himself, it is a good thing though that she has a day job, since her throw still needs a bit of work, though still not bad.
Dr. Mike
It has been reported recently that after returning to New York, Dr. Mike and Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach went on a helicopter ride around New York City. Dr. Mike shared pictures of the experience through both his Twitter and Instagram account.
