Valentine Fernandes will be the lady in red at the finals of Miss World New Zealand.
"My dress is red. I've only tried it on once, and my mum took a photo," she said.
"I'm trying really hard not to show it to anyone, because I want it to be a surprise."
Valentine Fernandes was crowned Miss Taranaki 2016 in January.
Valentine Fernandes was crowned Miss Taranaki 2016 in January.
The 21-year-old nursing student, who is one of 13 finalists in the national competition, didn't want to give too much away, but said her red dress was fairly heavy and had a train.
"Red is one of the colours that suits me," the Dubai-born contestant said.
The grand final is about two weeks away and that meant her nerves were growing.
"But it's also exciting."
Fernandes, who is also Miss Taranaki, has been flying up to Auckland every weekend to take part in the Miss World rehearsals, training and activities ahead of the final on June 4.
"It's great, but it's really intense. I just don't know what I'll do with all of my time once this is over.
"I've learned so much, not just through all of the training, but I've also learned a lot about myself, and realised that I can do things that I would have found extremely hard a few years ago."
Fernandes held her major fundraiser on Saturday night at the Novotel Hotel and said she was delighted to have a sell-out audience of 150 people.
"It was a hugely successful night and was a lot of fun. I was so thankful to everyone," she said.
"Not only were they supporting me, but they were supporting my charity, the Ronald McDonald House."
She said she had yet to count-up how much had been raised, but the fundraising was definitely financially successful.
The fundraiser was a Hollywood meets Bollywood evening, featuring a buffet meal and entertainment, including belly dancers, Bollywood dances and hip hop items.
