Newly crowned Miss Africa Continent 2016 Rebecca Asamoah has arrived in Ghana to a tumultuous welcome.

The 2nd runner up at the 2015 Miss Ghana Pageant beat off competition from 39 other participants to win the crown.

She arrived in the company of Chief Executive Officer of Exclusive Events - organizers of the Miss Ghana Pageant - Inna Mariam Patty and was received at the Kotoka International Airport by Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Dzifa Abla Gomashie.

The deputy minister told Asamoah that, “you have changed my perception about beauty pageants. I used to think that it was all about looks but listening to the questions and the way the participants answered them, it was intellectually stimulating. For her to have performed so brilliantly and subsequently won the ultimate I think deserves commendation.”

In response, Asamoah said: “I am highly elated to be the recipient of so much honour and welcome. Words cannot express my gratitude for all the support that have brought me thus far. Indeed I have never been more proud to be a Ghanaian than now. I am humbled by the privilege of representing both Ghana and Africa.”

Patty used the occasion to thank all and highlighted the progress made by her outfit to groom the ladies who participate in international events. The first was in September 2013 when Naa Okailey Shooter clinched 3rd place at the Miss World, which earned her the title, Miss World Africa 2013.

Asamoah follows in her footsteps by winning the maiden edition of Miss Africa Continent 2016.
