Miss Universe Pageant execs made it official this morning confirming what I reported three weeks ago that the 2016 Miss USA Pageant will be broadcast from Las Vegas on Sunday, June 5, on Fox.
I’d originally heard whispers that the competition would be at Axis at Planet Hollywood and thus scuttled rumors of a move to T-Mobile Arena.
However, the TV production team this week decided that there wouldn’t be sufficient time after the Jennifer Lopez show June 4 to have it ready for the next day’s telecast with a new set and load-in of cameras and audio.
It also wouldn’t give the 52 contestants any chance of rehearsing on the actual stage, thus the relocation to T-Mobile Arena at Toshiba Plaza. J.Lo is at Planet Hollywood from May 22 through June 12.
MISS NEVADA AMERICA: The 2016 Miss Nevada’s Outstanding Teen Pageant with our esteemed Editor Don Chareunsy as one of the judges is at Tropicana Showroom today. On Friday, the 2016 Miss Nevada America Pageant is at Tropicana Showroom.
2015 Miss Nevada Katherine Kelly will crown her successor who takes the title and crown to the2016 Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City in September. 2016 Miss Nevada’s Outstanding Teen Lauren Watson’s reign also ends.
Las Vegas pageant director Jodi Hale Fonfatold me this is the 67th anniversary of the Silver State scholarship organization, and under her direction the newly energized program has more sponsors and donors for scholarships than ever. Last year, Jodi and her team supplied $60,000 in scholarships to state contestants and expects to close in on $100,000 by the end of Friday’s judging.
UNLV has donated a full-ride scholarship valued at $24,000, and the new Miss Nevada will have the right to choose the full ride or a $10,000 scholarship elsewhere. This pageant is beyond the dresses, crowns and sashes and focuses on education and empowerment.
