Emotional evening celebrates the lifetime achievements of Julia Morley

A star studded show from the Channel Island of Jersey celebrated the lifetime achievements of Miss World CEO Julia Morley as she received the 2016 Variety Humanitarian Award at the 2016 Variety International World Conference. Guests from around the world shared their cherished memories of how Julia touched their lives, through video presentations, live appearances and recorded messages.

Laura Butlin was our first performer of the night, singing a beautiful self-penned song. Laura's Grandfather Billy Butlin was the Humanitarian Award winner in 1972.
Contestants from England, Wales & Scotland shared the success stories of BEauty with a Purpose in the British Isles
Krishna Naidoo, national director of Ireland spoke about the legacy his recently departed father and Julia forged together in Ireland
Megan Young was on presenting duties, alongside Angela Chow and Bradley Walsh
In an emotional evening full of surprises, individuals and organisations from England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, the United States, Philippines, India, Malaysia, Brazil, Australia, Guyana, Kenya, and Haiti (to name a few!) outlined the truly epic contributions to their societies Julia has been central to, and the inspiration she has provided through her Beauty with a Purpose initiatives, enabling them to get on board and join her in making the world a better place.
Escorted to the stage by UK comedian & TV star Bradley Walsh, Julia was presented with her lifetime achievements alongside plenty of tears and heartfelt speeches. With an audience packed full of friends, family and well wishers, it was a truly magical evening.
Emotions were running high as Miss World 2010 Alexandria Mills and Miss Kenya 2005 Cecilia Mwangi spoke of the still continuing anti jigger campaign both took part in.

News of Julia Morley's Award will be the headline story on tomorrow's Times of India newspaper. Here a presentation plaque of the paper was presented by reigning Mr & Miss India.
Baby Sunshine, who would not be alive today without Julia Morley, was a surprise guest for Julia, who left the Philippines for the very first time to be here tonight.
Julia received the 2016 Humanitarian Award from the current Presidents of the Variety International Charity
Accepting her award, Julia said “Thank you so much. It means a lot to have the presidents of Variety, the International Children’s Charity alongside me, because they always have been, and we always will be together.Variety has inspired me, my husband, my children, and I can’t imagine life without you all. We’re a big family across the world, and with Beauty with a Purpose and Variety International, we go from strength to strength alongside each other, both doing our own thing, but sharing where we can. This has been an amazing experience tonight. It’s such a dream tonight. We hope that we can all continue the same, God bless you and thank you very much all of you.”
