Beauty queen Leticia Cappatto wrongly crowned a winner of Miss Rondonia Mundo in Brazil

A BRAZILIAN beauty queen has been left red-faced after she was wrongly crowned the winner of a pageant, and her rival was given her crown.
Leticia Cappatto and Karliany Barbosa were in the running for the title of Miss Rondonia Mundo in north west Brazil.
Both girls were seen holding hands with smiles on their faces as they waited for the final verdict from the beauty pageant’s judges in the city of Porto Velho.
Before they found out who won, a woman who was going to crown one of them was moving it from one to the other as tensions were high in the room.
The pageant’s MC also made a comment saying: “Who will it be, who will it be, who will it be?”

Leticia was first announced as the winner, but it slipped off her head and hit the floor.
But that wasn’t the worst part of her day. As she was putting the crown back on her head, it was announced that a mistake had been made and her competitor Karliany was the real winner.
The crowd were left unhappy and could be heard booing, as Leticia’s face turned to disappointment.

She was so shocked by the mistake that she also called for a public recount.
“I didn’t know what to do when it happened,” she said, according to the Mirror UK.
“It felt like I was taking part in a scene from a film. I just wanted to leave that place, I felt humiliated.
“Some of the women said they were going to take legal action but I don’t know what I am going to do yet.”
Event organiser Gleice Leitte said claims that no one was properly counting the votes were false.
“Whoever’s saying there wasn’t an audit is wrong. If anyone wants to check how each jury member voted, we have a record which people are free to consult,” she said.
The rightful winner, Karliany, said: “If I won it was on merit. I plan to start preparing myself shortly for the national competition.
“I’ll do so with great pride, respect and professionalism because the contest didn’t just reward beauty, it also rewarded culture, ethics and knowledge about the state of Rondonia.”
The mix-up come after the famous on-air gaffe Steve Harvey made at the Miss Universe pageants last year, where Miss Colombia was wrongly named as the recipient of the crown. She had to give her crown up to Miss Philippines.
