Zara Holland's mum is 'very disappointed' that daughter's behaviour cost her Miss Great Britain crown
Cheryl Hakeney described the Love Island star's racy actions "out of character" after she was stripped of her title
Zara Holland's mum has admitted she was "really surprised" by her daughter's racy behaviour that got her stripped of the Miss Great Britain crown.
The Love Island star and model sparked controversy after she had sex on the ITV show, which cost her the beauty pageant title this month .
Now, her own mother has spoken out about the incident - which led to the likes of Vicky Pattison branding her "Miss BJ" - and described it as "out of character".
"I'm really surprised by Zara's behaviour - it's definitely out of character. But, although it's not her proudest moment, she hasn't committed any crime," Cheryl Hakeney told Heat magazine.
"I'm disappointed they took her title away. I hoped they would understand that all young women make mistakes."
She added that her daughter hasn't had many boyfriends, and actually suffered heartbreak six months ago when she was dumped on New Year's Eve.
She added: "It was with a guy that she really, really liked and her took her out on New Year's Eve and then just before midnight told her that he had hooked back up with his ex."
It comes after Deone Robertson opened up about taking the Miss Great Britain crown from her friend Zara , and admitted it was "bitter sweet" under such circumstances.
"We are supposed to be role models for young girls and represent our chosen charities - [Zara] knew this," she told us.
"Everyone is briefed before entering a pageant. It's drummed into your head. There are contracts in place. You can't be be seen naked or topless and you definitely cannot have sex on TV.
