FILIPINO-German Imelda Schweighart bested 45 other entrants to win the Miss Philippines Earth 2016 crown on Saturday, June 11, at the UP Theater, Diliman, Quezon City.

In the final question and answer portion, Schweighart, 21, was asked: "If you had the chance to talk one-on-one with president-elect Duterte, what assistance would you ask from him on your climate change advocacy?"

"My climate change advocacy is banning genetically modified organisms (GMO) and genetically modified seeds, because I believe in natural food in order to feed our mind, body, and soul. So if we really want to feed our minds and become smarter, let's support banning GMO, [president-elect] Duterte. At the same time, I would like to encourage him to put bike lanes here in Manila, and I would take him to Puerto Princesa and I would show him how clean our place is," she answered.

Schweighart also said that she would also like Duterte to create bike lanes in Manila. She also said that she would like to invite Duterte in Puerto Princesa, to see the city she is representing.

"I would like to encourage him to put bike lanes here in Manila and I would take him to Puerto Princesa to show him how clean our place is," she said.

Schweighart is the reigning Miss Puerto Princesa and placed second in the Miss Palawan pageant. She will compete for the Miss Earth 2016 pageant to represent the country in October 2016.

Second placer Kiara Giel Gregorio from the Filipino community in London was proclaimed Miss Philippines-Air. She was also named Miss Hana Shampoo and Miss Oasis Dental.

Loren Artejos from Laoag was crowned Miss Philippines-Water while Shannon Rebecca Bridgman from Rosales, Pangasinan, was hailed as Miss Philippines-Fire.

Melanie Mader from the Filipino community in Vienna was proclaimed Miss Philippines-Ecotourism.
