Hamilton woman Amy Meisak (22) represented Scotland in the finals of the Miss Earth beauty pageant in Austria.
She took part in a month of challenges there alongside 108 other beauties from across the world and made it to the final 16 of the competition.
Only the final 16 took part in the pageant night in December in Vienna when the winner, Angelia Ong from the Philippines, was crowned.
Miss Earth seeks to find beauties who are also interested in environmental issues and in having balance across all areas of their lives.

Amy said: “When I arrived I didn’t know any of the girls.
“No-one knew anyone’s name, we just called each other by our countries.
“So I was called ‘Scotland’ or ‘Braveheart’ for a month.
“We visited a lot of places in Austria and went to different towns and villages.
“We got to go and see a glacier and we built snowmen.
“We also went to an apricot planting farm where we helped plant some of the trees.”

Amy Meisak (third from right) took part in fitness challenges with other Miss Earth contestants.
The girls took part in a number of challenges including being interviewed by Austrian television.
Amy, who has competed in other pageants, won the ‘darling of the press’ challenge after the media professionals judged her as the best interviewee out of the girls.
The Miss Earth contestants also had to take part in a fitness challenge.
And each girl dressed in their national dress for another challenge, which saw Amy don some pretty tartan.
After all the challenges, pageant organisers picked their top 16 contestants to take part in the grand final, which included Amy.
The final was broadcast on TV in the USA, Mexico, the Philippines and Austria.
It was also streamed live on the internet so Amy’s family at home were able to watch, although she had some support on the night as well.

Amy said: “My brother and his friend surprised me and came over.
“It was good to have some support in the crowd. You could really hear the Scottish guys up the back.”
Amy plans to enter Miss Scotland this year (following in the footsteps of last year's Lanarkshire finalists Julie Govan and Stephanie Dunn), and hopes her profile as Miss Earth Scotland will help in her radio career.
She got fit for Miss Earth with the help of New Age Fitness in Hamilton and hopes they will help her get on track for Miss Scotland as well.
Amy said: “I’ve had so many experiences I wouldn’t have had if I didn’t enter Miss Earth.”
