Miss Teen USA needs to be rescued from sheep

The international debutante circuit can be dog-eat-dog — but at the Viennese Opera Ball at the Waldorf Astoria, live sheep were the problem.
Miss Teen USA Katherine Haik, 15, of Louisiana, “got tangled up with two sheep that were part of the Mozart opera (presentation), and they wouldn’t leave the beauty queen alone,” said a spy. “One of the sheep plopped down on the hem of her ball gown!”
Famed animal handler and Discovery Family star Bill Berloni had to come to her — and the gown’s — rescue. Haik was among 16 dashing debs in white gowns and long gloves.
A source said precautions were taken so that the sheep at the ball didn’t sully the white dresses of the ladies or the carpeting: “Their trainer got large pampers and covered them with sheepskin dyed to match the animals.”
Also there as part of the Mozart tribute at the New York edition of the Vienna Ball was a “15-hand-high horse” named Lord, who’s appeared at the Met Opera. Brooke Shields attended the Vienna version this month.
