ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - Miss Arkansas Savvy Shields was crowned Miss America 2017 on Sunday, beating out 51 other contestants at the annual pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Here are five fast facts about Shields:
1. She's a student at the University of Arkansas. The 21-year-old from Fayetteville is a senior art major and business minor, according to the Miss Arkansas website. She's also a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

2. Her platform is "Eat Better, Live Better." Shields "aims to educate people on how the foods we eat really make an impact on our lives as a whole," according to the Miss Arkansas website.

3. This isn't her first big win. According to the Miss Arkansas website, before her Miss America and Miss Arkansas titles, she was named Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen 2009 and competed in the Miss America's Outstanding Teen Pageant.
4. She's a fan of Queen Bey. "I want to be a backup dancer for Beyoncé," Shields said, according to E!. "I feel like that's every dancer's secret dream is to be a backup dancer for Beyoncé, especially with her new tour."
For the talent portion of the competition, Shields performed a jazz dance to "They Just Keep Moving the Line" from "Smash."

5. She thinks the presidential candidates should "focus on compromise." During her onstage interview, Shields said Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are doing a "good job" but "need to watch what they're doing." Later, she told reporters, "What I want both candidates to focus on is compromise. Our country was founded on compromise. We're in a state now where both parties just seem to be yelling at one another."
