SOPHIE BROWNSON Email 16:48Monday 26 September 2016 0 HAVE YOUR SAY A Miss Great Britain finalist from South Tyneside is overjoyed after making it into the top 15 of the pageant final. Coral Patrick, 21, from Reading Road, South Shields, beat off 25 girls from across the country to make it in to the shortlist of 15 women at the pageant final in Leicester. The Newcastle University student was crowned Miss Newcastle Great Britain in June, which automatically put her forward for the Miss Great Britain final. Coral, who lives with fiancé Reece Parry, competed against women aged from 18 to 27 - all of them winners of regional Miss Great Britain pageants. She joined four other North East contestants at the competition final held at the Athena in Leicester, which saw the women take part in rounds including an evening wear and swim wear round in front of judges and a live audience in the hope of winning the title. In the build up to the competition, participants had to collect votes and raise funds for the charity Global’s Make Some Noise, the official charity of Capital FM. Coral, who raised £1,200 for the charity, said she was delighted to have taken part despite not winning the overall title. She said: “I feel like it’s all hit home how amazing the Miss Great Britain experience has really been. “This was my first ever pageant and to be short-listed out from 50 beautiful talented girls by judges who know the industry inside and out is very humbling. “I don’t quite know what life is going to throw my way, but I know this experience will help me come out on top.” For more information on the pageant visit: www.missnortheastgb.co.uk
