A fashion model launched a body shamming assault on a Miss Italy contestant who came second claiming she is 'too fat' to be a beauty queen.
Contestant Paola Torrente, who is a size 14 wowed fans with her ample figure when she came in second to Rachele Risaliti during the Miss Italy 2016 in Angri, Salerno.
The 22-year-old engineering student, who measures up at 5 foot 9 inches, was a hugely popular choice with the audience and fans and was met with thousands of comments of support.
But Croatian model Nina Moric, 40, launched a body shaming assault on her Instagram account claiming Miss Torrente was only chosen because of 'political correctness' and was joined by other online trolls.
But fellow social media users say the cruel remarks are just because Moric, who rose to fame was when she was a dancer in Ricky Martin's 'Livin' La Vida Loca' video 15 years ago, is jealous.

Nina said Miss Torrente was 'too fat to be a beauty queen' and argued the competition was 'defending people with too much flesh'
'You have created organisations to defend people with too much flesh,' she wrote,
'You have arrived to the point where we chose a Miss Italy who is too fat - and all in the name of sensitivity and acceptance of others.'
She added: 'Why don't you start one for people who have ugly feet too?'

Despite her win it was Miss Torrente who won fans' hearts with thousands of supportive comments
Despite most of the contestants supporting each other the mother of Miss Italy's third place contestant Viviana Vogliacco also weighed in on the controversy, claiming nobody that is a size 14 should 'take part in the Plus Size Miss Italy contest'
Miss Torrente refused to respond to the row saying only she 'felt like a winner'
The mother of Miss Italy's third place contestant Viviana Vogliacco also weighed in on the controversy, claiming nobody that is a size 14 should 'take part in the Plus Size Miss Italy contest' and not in the mainstream event.
But contest organiser Patrizia Mirigliani called for calm, saying: 'Stop the stereotypes. What we want is more female models who are closer to real people.'
She added that the popularity of curvaceous women was a social initiative to combat anorexia and shouted that to win this fight it was important to have the support of the fashion industry.
Miss Torrente refused to respond to the row saying only: 'Despite being the runner-up I feel like a winner.'
