26-year-old Truong Dieu Ngoc from Da Nang was crowned Miss Ao Dai Vietnam 2016 on June 7 and will represent Vietnam in the Miss World 2016 contest.
Ngoc, who stands 1.8m in height, also received a prize of VND100 million (US$ 4,500).
The first runner-up Yen Nhi was represent Vietnam in the Miss Grand International 2016 competition. Phuong Linh, the second runner-up, will vie for the Miss International crown.
The Miss Ao Dai Vietnam contest, also known as Miss World Vietnam, was organized as a 2-month long television reality show which featured challenges and competitions among the participating contestants.
Ngoc joined the Miss Ao Dai 2014 but was eliminated from Top 5.
During the interview section of this year's contest, she was asked by judge Truong Ngoc Anh, “If you could be a great influential person for one day, who would you want to be and why?”
“Angelina Jolie,” said Ngoc, the oldest contestant among 18 finalists. “She's an ideal example of the 'Beauty with a purpose' ethos."
Dieu Ngoc will represent Vietnam at the Miss World 2016.
The Miss Ao Dai contested selected 18 finalists from hundreds of contestant nationwide.
They stayed in the "Palace of Beauty" for two months, where they learned new skills and overcame many challenges before entering the final gala.
