The Miss Universe 2016 pageant events saw Miss Puerto Rico being stripped of her crown because Kristhielee Caride admitted to being camera-shy. Not many expected the ricochet of this decision by Miss Universe Puerto Rico director Desiree Lowry on the mental health of Kristhielee Caride.
New York Daily News reports that the former Miss Universe candidate went into a dark place when her crown as Miss Puerto Rico was taken away from her. Following the decision by Miss Universe Puerto Rico director Desiree Lowry, Kristhielee Caride reportedly went on several days without food or sleep.
Kristhielee Caride honestly admitted that she needed professional help and care after the Miss Universe Puerto Rico title for the Miss Universe pageant was taken away from her. Having worked hard to win the Miss Universe candidacy, Kristhielee Caride said that she needed help to come to terms with the sudden loss. Her hospital admission for severe depression lasted a few days for the former Miss Universe candidate.
The health treatment seems to have helped Kristhielee Caride as she is now ready to fight back for her Miss Universe candidacy once more. With the support of her mother and the help of her lawyer, the former Miss Universe Puerto Rico will take Miss Universe Puerto Rico director Desiree Lowry.
Brenda Santiago, the mother of Kristhielee Caride, says their intention is to bring out their side of the story in the Miss Universe Puerto Rico situation to arrive at the truth. Brenda Santiago also took to social media to thank friends and supporters on behalf of the former Miss Universe candidate.
US Weekly reports that Miss Universe Puerto Rico director Desiree Lowry claims to be protecting the organization with her decision to remove the crown from Kristhielee Caride. The Miss Universe Puerto Rico director was reportedly unhappy when the former Miss Universe Puerto Rico candidly admitted in an interview that she does not like being in front of cameras.
"I wanted the earth to swallow me," the Miss Universe Puerto Rico director said. "You always have to put your best face forward, it's a given that we are going to be in front of cameras and that we have to answer all types of questions."
