2015 Miss Indonesia Anindya Kusuma Putri is competing in the 2015 Miss Universe Pageant at Planet Hollywood. The pageant is Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015, at Axis at Planet Hollywood.

2015 Miss Universe Pageant

In advance of tonight’s first 2015 Miss Universe Pageant preliminary competition, the 81 glamorous contestants have been busy in rehearsals and sharpening their talent skills. The preliminary show will live stream at MissUniverse.com starting at 7 p.m. PT.
Pageant experts are already predicting now that our Miss USA Olivia Jordan, a former Zappos Las Vegas shoe model from Oklahoma, will be in the Top Five finalists.
Judges have been interviewing each contestant and after tonight’s preliminary show will determine the Top 15 to be announce during the first 20 minutes of the Fox pageant Sunday at Axis at Planet Hollywood.
The three-hour broadcast will permit videotaped packages of the stories behind the top contestants. Vegas DeLuxe has already reported that 13 of the girls are lawyers, and Miss Spain and Miss Portugal are surgeons.
“We’ll have time to tell incredible stories,” Paula Shugart, Miss Universe Organization president, told me. “These are remarkable women, and they are the best we’ve ever presented. You are going to find them adventurous and modern, with brains and beauty.”
After tonight’s preliminary competition, all 81 contestants will appear onstage in an elaborate costume of their choice that they believe best represents their country. Olivia told me her outfit, which remains secret until show time, is patriotic with red, white and blue themes.
Olivia added: “I feel like I’m already a winner because of the Miss USA title, the recognition of my nation. I’m here now to represent my country well. This is not a bigger pressure than the Miss USA Pageant.
“In pageants, you grow. It’s a step up the ladder, a progression so you go from local, top state to national. I’ve been watching Miss Universe since I was a little kid. I even came here to Las Vegas in 2012 to watch Olivia Culpo win. It’s very exciting to be back here competing in the pageant. I feel very privileged.”
We will have a report Thursday and photos and video. The contestants take part Thursday in a 90-minute press junket with more than 50 members of the media.
The red carpet on Sunday starts at 1:30 p.m. with Miss Universe Paulina Vega of Colombia who will crown her successor; entertainers Seal, The Band Perry and Charlie Puth; Miss Teen USA Katherine Halk; and pageant hosts Steve Harvey and Roselyn Sanchez.
Roselyn has co-hosed the Latin Billboard Music Awards and Latin Grammy Awards. She also made headlines walking away from hosting the Miss USA Pageant this year after former owner Donald Trump’s remarks against Mexican immigrants and with her participation in the “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear fur” PETA campaign.
For the first time, viewers will act as a judge with a virtual seat at the judging table. During the telecast, fans around the world will have the opportunity to cast their votes for each contestant during the competitions. The worldwide score will help determine which contestant will be crowned the next Miss Universe.
Voting is real time during the broadcast, which will be taped delayed Pacific Time. Here is a Fox promo of Sunday’s show posted on YouTube. The pageant will be broadcast around the world showcasing Las Vegas attractions to a worldwide audience of more than 100 million viewers in 190 countries and territories.
Pageant fanatics are predicting that Olivia will be in the Top Five with Vietnam’s Hong Pham in the lead, followed by France’s Flora Coquerel, Colombia’s Ariadna Gutierrez, India’s Urvasha Rautela and Olivia.
Good luck to Olivia and all the beautiful girls. We’ll have live coverage during the pageant from Axis Theater, including the winner crowned here Sunday night.
