The battle of the international beauty queens has begun.
While Derry native Joanna Cooper (20) represents Ireland at the Miss Universe competition in Las Vegas, Antrim’s Sacha Livingstone (20) is in Sanya, China vying for the Miss World title.
And both models will be taking to the stage of their respective competitions just 24 hours apart. The Miss World final takes place on Saturday, December 19th while the Miss Universe competition wraps on Sunday, December 20.
Cooper, a journalism student at Queen’s University in Belfast and dead ringer for supermodel Cara Delevingne, has been making waves on social media, with many commenters predicting she’ll land a place in the top 15.
While Sacha, who works full-time as a model, has been more low-key about her participation, but previously revealed her desire to take home the Miss World crown as Rosanna Davison did in 2003.
The winner of the Miss Universe pageant will move to New York for 12 months to live in Trump Place as tycoon Donald Trump owns the franchise.
The Miss World title holder is allowed to reside in their home country but is required to travel around the world for work. A winner is chosen through five different rounds of judging including Beauty with a Purpose, Multimedia, Sports, Talent, and Top Model.
