"It is unreal and I'm so thankful for this," Savvy said in a press conference after winning the crown.
Those who know her best said this moment was no surprise.
"From the moment you meet her, you can always find something very relatable in her and she's somebody I think people gravitate toward and they want to be around," Lacy Glover, Miss Arkansas 2004, said.
Glover is also a part of Savvy's team and the Miss Arkansas Board of Directors. She joined us via FaceTime in New York City after watching Savvy win in Boardwalk Hall the previous night.
"We're so excited for her, so proud and just so excited the state of Arkansas got to watch what we've always known she was going to be Miss America," Glover said.
However, Savvy even impressed those who barely knew her like the celebrity judges.
"You set the bar so high that I hope they can obtain the same level you have," Mark Cuban, Miss America judge, said.
"Keep that cool, bubbly, humble thing you've got going on because it's awesome girl," Ciara, Miss America judge, said.
"You're such a kind heart that shines through. You're so authentic, so genuine and I'm so excited you're our Miss America," Laura Marano, Miss America judge, said.
Now both Arkansas and America will watch her experience all of the moments this year as Miss America.
