MINNEAPOLIS (Valley News Live) - Minneapolis Police are investigating the death of Miss North Dakota USA 2003.
Samantha Edwards was discovered non-responsive by a friend inside a home on the 1700 block of Upton Avenue North around 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday.
A police report indicates there was no obvious sign of trauma, and does not say whether any evidence was found on-scene to indicate it was anything but a natural death.
Edwards has lived in Fargo and also attended the University of North Dakota.
The Miss USA pageant posted on Facebook about the death of Samantha Edwards, also known as "Sami." The post reads: “Sad news out of the Peace Garden State today, Rest in Peace Samantha Edwards forever Miss ND USA 2003 who passed away suddenly this morning.”
There is a GoFundMe page that is raising money for funeral expenses. In just 18 hours, more than $12,000 has been donated.
No word from police yet on how Edwards died. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner says an autopsy is planned.
