Miss Great Britain 2016 could be Woodley's professional mermaid
Grace Page from Woodley will represent Reading at the national beauty pageant
A children's entertainer from Woodley has been selected to represent Reading in the Miss Great Britain competition.
Grace Page, 24, of Crossways in Woodley is a professional mermaid and princess performer, she was told by email on Thursday, May 19 she had received the title MissReading 2016.
Miss Page said being chosen "was amazing, obviously I was really, really pleased".
She added: "It was my friend who put me forward, I got an email asking for more information about my application and I was just gobsmacked."
Miss Page is keen on doing charity work within the community and uses her mermaid and princess businesses to help.
Annually, she runs a "litter picking with TinkerBell" day, where youngsters can help out in their park and learn about the benefits of recycling.
The Miss Great Britain 2016 final will be held in Leicester at The Athena on Friday, September 23.
Miss Page, who has been sponsored by Gentings Casino for the competition, said: "I'll go up the day before, for rehearsals and to choreograph the whole thing.
"We do three different rounds.
"The final is the big ball gown round and there's a bikini round, where we all wear red, white and blue bikinis, which will be fun.
"I'm hoping to do well in the talent round."
For the talent round the hopefuls will submit a video of their talent, Miss Page is hoping to be filmed underwater performing her mermaid tricks before surfacing to sing.
