COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -
There are 98 young ladies in the Fountain City putting on a fantastic show this week.
It’s all part of the 72nd annual Miss Georgia Pageant, which kicked off at the Columbus RiverCenter Tuesday night.
Forty-nine young ladies are vying for the Miss Georgia Crown, while 49 teens are looking to become the next Miss Georgia Outstanding Teen.

The competition includes fitness or swimsuit, talent and evening gown. There is also an interview portion.
"The caliber of the women doesn't change. These girls are just as intelligent, just as beautiful as they were 72 years ago so it's just different but it's so exciting,” said Cassie Myers, a member of the Miss Georgia Board of Trustees. “We're so excited to be here at the river center for our 77 year.".
The young ladies come from all corners of the state.
The Outstanding Teen will be crowned Friday night with the new Miss Georgia crowned on Saturday.
Former Miss Georgia and current Miss America Betty Cantrell will be in Columbus next weekend for the crowning,
